I've always found that a gay man described as being feminine was a bad description...the nasal voice and the limp wrists aren't really something that women don't do. What ever you want to call it, I think it justs like developing and accent and it happens very quickly sometimes.

When I was in college I had two first semester freshmen roomates for one semester (I was a junior then) that I rented a three bedroom apartment with in San Francisco. One guy I found through the school bulletin board and then he knew the other guy (they lived on the same street with their parents). The bulletin board was categorized by sexual preference and he had listed him self as straight. Well, you know what happens that first year at school when you finally get out from under your parents roof...students get a little crazy before they find themselves and settle in. This guy was 18 and he looked about 30...he could have done some modeling for Marlboro (actually he did end up doing some modeling)....he didn't have the nasal voice or the wrists thing at that point. It was about a month into the semester and he told myself and the other roomate he was coming out of the closet. The other roomate was straight, he was in school but, he also worked at a television station that was owned and run by a well known gay man in the community there.....probably 2/3 of the people he worked with were gay/lesbian. In no time at all, he was doing the voice and hand movements because it he picked it up from work but, he was straight, dated girls and had no interest in dating men....he hung out with people from work a lot though (that was what he was majoring in as well).

The roomate that came out of the closet, he picked up the voice and hand movements within a month of coming out (from going to the bars and clubs all the time). He never brought any men back to the apartment but, he was obviously having sex 2-3 a day with different men each time. AIDS wasn't in the news yet but, I remember him telling me about how a few people from the gay community had died and they didn't know why and then a week later it hit the news.....I know that slowed him down a bit.
Any way the "feminine" characteristics came from their environment...one was str8 and one was gay. I myself never picked it up living there for the semester (or the whole 4 years I was in San Francisco at school). I had the master bedroom and bath and ever once in awhile I'd go some where (to eat, movie, bar) with one or both of them.....I was at school or work most of the time.

Okay, I am enetering in Jan what should be my last semester of masters and heading into Doctorate, grades are good, just aced this semester, not in yet, but I know I did above my expectations, I am right now entering both finishing paper and semester for masters and working on PHD Thesis..
