I am wondering if I should try to wear it as long as possible righ off the bat, or should I try to wear it for a short period of time at first to get used to it. any thoughts much appreciated. so anxious and not sure what to expect.

Although wearing it as long as possible seems interesting, it really isn't possible. It is going to take a bit of time to figure out the rings and spacers. What seems comfortable when you are trying things can feel totally different when you wake up with an attempt at "morning wood".
