I use both windows paint and something called SmoothDraw. It has some options like a soft eraser. Also different ways of increasing the size of the canvas. I found, that at least on my computer, sometimes windows tells me that it cannot open a picture with paint. Then I go to SmoothDraw. Never had an issue there. You can save the end result as a SD document or JPEG.

Thanks I have heard of gimp a few times, I rember compiling a copy a few years back, I can't remember why I was not into it but maybe It's time to give it another look.
Timmy27 Thanks I will look into that paint seems ok'ish but I had the same isue with some files not opening so I'll check out SD. Really what is holding me back now is needing to rework all my cords so I can get at the keyboard or getting my ass to a store to pick up a wierless one.
