Because you asked: there's a line. Just one opinion, that is all. While I go for the theme, I myself have made many with this theme, references to red and such serious injury is outside my scope of erotica. So it takes me out of it.
I like it to be in the abstract. Husband getting his ass kicked is fine. I've even made one or two where I, the husband, get a black eye in the scene.
I guess it's the dynamic of the demonstrated power by one male and presentation by the other who is the woman's rightful partner. That guy giving up before being all too hurt.
