Why so much less use of the word "wittol"?

Technically speaking, while all wittols are cuckolds, not all cuckolds are wittols.

Most of us on this forum are wittols, defined as a man who is aware of, and accepts his wife's infidelities (with varying degrees of enthusiasm).

I like to describe myself as a wittol (in addition to cuckold) but I'm curious why there is so much less use of the word/so much less eroticization of it.

Anybody else consider themselves a wittol?

I am not a cuckold or wittol, but a bull. I guess it is an old word where cuckold is more often used and more well know as a result. I guess most men on here are wittols in the true sense of the word: Wittol = a contented cuckold

I suspect simply because wittol is a less well known word. Cuckold, though much more widely used, is nonetheless used very loosely by a lot of people for activities that have more to do with wife sharing than cuckoldry. For my part I am a cuckold in the sense that my wife has been unfaithful to me. I am not a wittol in that I do not accept her behaviour, however, if she were to ask me if I would mind her having sex with other men I believe that I might agree. For me openness and trust are important and only in that context would I accept being a cuckold and therefore a wittol. What I would rather is to be able to share her with other men where all of us were in the same room even if I was relegated to only watching but she has made it very clear that having an audience is out of the question.

I consider myself a wittol and use the term frequently. I think "cuckold" is more commonly used for three reasons:

-> "Cuckold" implies reluctance and wittol doesn't. Indeed in the strict sense this is the difference between "wittol" and "cuckold" - wittols accept it and are "contented." (For whatever reason; novelists, moralists, playwrights and others have suggested a variety of possible motives.) Since the conceit of compulsion is an important element of the fetish of cuckolding (as distinct from the non-fetish behavior of an cheating wife) it is more attractive to many with the fetish.

-> As others have implied before, modern common usage vocabularies are relatively small and "cuckold," a word still used by the media, courts, and many churches, is a more familiar word then "wittol," which is used mostly by regency playwrights and their high-brow literary successors.

-> It has now become the established name of the fetish - a usage quite distinct from its strict sense.

I started out as a 'cuckold' who did not plan it that way, (it just happened!) but once it happened and I both accepted and embraced my role of wearing the horns and my wife cuckolding me with other men, I found it pleasurable and so I must have evolved into a 'wittol'. Now not only I accept my cuckold (actually wittol) status but I actively seek lovers for my wife. I have learned her tastes in men, preferred cock size, permisteralities, facial hair, body types, etc. I almost feel sometimes like I may just as well be one of her girl friends discussing her lovers. Works for me and turns me on!

Yes: semantics (noun) - the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning.

Which would cover the question "why so little use of the word "wittol"?

What is your point, i222?

You are truly a wittol and certainly one of my favorite and most intelligent posters on this board!

I believe that you may possibly have overthought some ideas. I don't understand who "implied" these descriptions and also who "inferred" those implications. It appears that too many people tend to infer facts as how it "should" mean by their pers0nal feelings as opposed to the reality of the situation.

Cuckold is a man with an unfaithful wife. Period. Doesn't mean anything more or less.

Wittol is a cuckold that "tolerates" his wife's infidelities. Doesn't matter why he tolerates her cheating. He is a wittol.

Fetish means an unusual sexual interest in objects or clothing. Cross dressing, panty sniffing, licking cum off of a lady's stockings or foot worship and etc.

Kink means things like sexual deviation, idiosyncratic quirk of pers0nality, something twisted from normalcy and etc. Putting one's wife out there for other men to use and ab use as they see fit, sucking another man's come from his wife's asshole or cunt, CBT, ruined orgasms, sh1t eating, remaining locked in a CB and sexless before, during and after your wife's cunt is being satisfied by a "real man", keeping a huge butt plug in your ass while wife is out having sexual pleasures with other men and women, desiring extensive periods in chastity as he enjoys his wife's cunt free and open for whoever and whenever she chooses......

Sissies are OK by wearing girly clothes, long term CB wear, desiring to be sexed by real men, masochism etc..... These activities are intrinsic to being a sissy and I see nothing wrong with them enjoying the rewards and pleasures of sissydom! Sissies are honestly not trying to fool anybody. They have the balls to stand up to society and express themselves and their feelings. I have to respect men who aren't afraid to show that kind of courage!

Media, courts and many churches can go fuck themselves. They have no right or business telling us who or what we are!

I guess I also started as a cuckold when my wife had an affair behind my back. Over the years since, I have convinced her to fuck others with my knowledge which she is doing that right now. So I guess I have evolved into a wittol too.

Interesting, especially to learn that the word wittol is an old one as well (as cuckold). While on the subject...I wish more guys understood what cuckold meant. You see a lot of men who think it means a hub who is sub, who is 'caged' or who services the "bull." All of which is fairly recent twists on an old word that simply meant (as this thread verifies) when a woman was screwing someone other than her hub.
