REAL - Cuckold Festival in Italy

I've seen mention here before of this festival, but without looking for the new thread I wanted to provide some more insight on this:

For those who don't know, the small town of Roccagorga, Italy (just outside Rome) has an annual tradition of celebrating cuckolds.

As a matter of fact, a sign greets you as you come into town which says "The Town Heartily Welcomes All You Cuckolds!"

Men actually compete to be named the "Cuckold King" - the winner is selected by a panel of judges who confirm with the man's wife. Once his wife has admitted to the panel that yes, she does in fact cuckold her husband, he leads the procession through town, often being laughed at.

Cuckolds attending the festival identify themselves as one of five types of cuckold:

LI BECCHI = Unaware they are a cuckold.
LI CUCCUBBONI = knows he is a cuckold but pretends ignorance.
LI BECCONI = Suspects he is a cuckold but has no proof.
ER TRIBECCO = Is being cuckolded by a trusted friend, he is considered twice the fool.
ER CALIDONE = Knows he is being cuckolded and cheerfully accepts the role, despite the offense that comes with it.

A popular soup is served over the course of the festival called Cuckold Soup. Tomato-based (naturally) it is so called because it is known to stay hot for an extraordinary long time...thus giving your cuckolding wife plenty of time to slip out of the kitchen and visit with her lover.

Cuckolding is big in Latin countries, specially Italy. The original word 'Cornutto' translates into "He who wears the horns" and the lifestyle has always been fairly common there. I am not at all surprised they have a celebration about it! I think it's a great idea and many other places could successfully host such a festival, particularly now that the lifestyle is becoming more and more accepted every day. Cuckold winners could be crowned with a big set of horns which they could wear proudly. They have Gay parades all over, don't they? Why not one (or 2 stateside) for "Cornuttos"?

You have got that right for sure. It's certainly bigger just about anywhere other than all the countries that trace back to merry old puritanical England (UK, US, Canada) - and especially prevalent in Latin culture. I heard one man from Brazil say that it's just generally assumed and accepted that a couple who have been married a while will each have a lover. I also read of a similar party in Mexico, but in this case they pick out a cuckold in advance who doesn't know he is being picked and just show up at his home to present him with horns.

The Italian festival I like because the men choose to be recognized as cuckolds. Why exactly might be difficult for most to understand, but being a offense fetishist myself, I totally get it. If I were living there in a culture where this is acceptable - I would probably compete for the title myself.

Great idea about the horns - as a matter of fact if you read the links, the cuckold king in the contest is in fact crowned with a big set of horns precisely as you suggest, and is made to lead a parade through town wearing them. You can look up youtube videos of this event as well - interesting to note that many of the cuckolds in the procession do choose to wear masks, which I suppose is fine for those cucks who want to take part but can't bear the offense permisterally.

Final note - perhaps even the Germans are more into it than English cultures? It's an anecdotal story, but I was speaking with a beautiful German girl once who was talking about how she disliked relationships. When I pressed her as to why, she further explained that it wasn't the idea of a relationship itself, but she was very concerned about losing her sexual freedom. And to quote: "If I ever did get married, he would just have to accept that I wouldn't be faithful to him and he would just have to learn to deal with that."

Thank you for all the great info, sissyschoolgirl_BC! Very much appreciated since I am thoroughly fascinated with the subject. Having grown up in a Latin country I first had my introduction as a teenager (would you believe I was only 14?...in this country (U.S.A.) they would have tried to put the poor woman in primister as a young worryer). A good looking married 25year old in my neighborhood decided to teach me about the girls and bees, and rather than knowing anything about the cuckold subject I just thought that I was the luckiest kid in the world! I never commented it with anyone, specially since she had warned me that we would both get in a lot of trouble. I just kept my unbelievable good fortune to myself and continued visiting her in the afternoons after school as much as I could possibly get away with. This went on for about a year, then one day I thought I died and went to heaven when she had me visiting at her house and had invited another great looking married woman in her early 20's to sample her 'boy toy' on her bed. My dick was sore for days, and again I thought I had to be the luckiest kid alive! I never knew if her husband knew about her cuckolding him or not, and I simply did not care! Never did I dream that some day I would grow up to want to be on the cuckold side and to enjoy my role as a cuckold hubby.
