I am seeing cuckolding becoming more and more of a mainstream concept. Was just watching an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" a few days ago and the character Marshall was upset that his girlfriend had left him and Robin told her boyfriend Ted that she had come up with an idea of how to get Marshall out of his emotional slump. Ted responded with "Good because I was just a few days away from suggesting that you relax with him."

There was also an episode of ABC Inside Edition where a woman was living with two men. Her husband was older and lived at home, doing housework and young raising duties. The younger male worked a 9-5 job. She worked out of the home. The said that they all had seperate bedrooms, but those of us familiar with the cuckold lifestyle know that they don't. At one point the wife said that all of her friends are envious of her.

I agree. Cuckolding is being increasingly common.

In another TV example, there is the case of Two and a half men. In an episode, Alan invites Walden to do a threesome with Lyndsey, the Alan's girlfriend (at her request). I wonder if it's becoming a trend or if it has always been there. I was watching an episode of the Simpmister's and they actually mentioned the word cuckold in a joke. 6 years ago the joke would have gone unnoticed(about the time I found out what it meant).

In the book A BILLION WICKED THOUGHTS....it says that cuckold porn is the 2nd most popular adult site on the web.

In Identity Thief there is a scene of faux cuckolding. I was surprised to see it in a pretty much main stream movie. Sort of thought it was a little erotic and might be a nice scenario to play out.

Surely, one of the consequences of greater equality between the sexes is more women stepping out. Lord knows it is easier for them than for us guys. (Especially us modestly-endowed guys...)

We think cuckolding has always been there - but we also think that a number of factors have made it more 'obvious' to the population in general.
1) The internet - for the first time, people can chat about individual likes and dislikes, connecting with people having similar interests that would not have been possible.
2) The pill - before widespread use of the pill, women had to take extraordinary measures that they wouldn't become impregnated. Either that, or, despite the interest, suppressed it. History tells us that numerous women in high places looked forward to when they became pregnant so they could have fun with other men without any risk.
3) Television Shock Shows - always looking for controversial topics to explore - increased ratings
4) Mainstream Television - Like with shock TV, they are looking for something that will increase ratings. People quoting 30-minute sitcoms say it's mentioned for laughs. But if you look at the drama on television, you'll see it is approached in a more serious vein. I have seen CSI, the Mentalist and others have entire episodes using swinging and alternative lifestyles as settings the episode revolves around.
5) Movies - a very nice plot device. There are a number of movies where the 'cheating wife' is caught, subsequently ***ed or blackmailed, and the hero has to correct the situation.
So I don't believe it's more common, it's just increasingly accepted as people are now able to exercise their desires with a lot less negative consequences than in recent history. But remember, the Romans, Greeks and countless other older societies simply turned a blind eye to it, being as much accepted then as now.
Just our thoughts.
